As the hot summer season approaches, rising temperatures can increase the risk of heat stress in livestock and poultry. In addition, frequent heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in southern regions may adversely affect farming equipment. To minimize the impact of high temperatures and severe weather, extend equipment service life, and ensure stable farm operations, we would like to remind you of the following summer maintenance precautions for livestock and poultry farming equipment.
1. Ventilation and Cooling Equipment Maintenance
Inspect the operating condition of ventilation fans and electrical cabinet exhaust fans.
Check fan blades for deformation, damage, abnormal noise, or excessive vibration during operation.
Regularly remove dust and debris from fan blades and protective covers to maintain optimal ventilation efficiency.
Inspect the water supply system of cooling pads to ensure that pumps, pipelines, and nozzles are free from blockages and leaks, guaranteeing adequate and uniform water distribution.
Remove scale and impurities from the surface of cooling pads using a soft brush to avoid damaging the pad material.
Regularly inspect and lubricate air inlet actuators, corner pulleys, and steel cables to ensure smooth operation.
2. Electrical Equipment Maintenance
High-temperature and high-humidity conditions can accelerate the aging of electrical systems, increasing the risk of short circuits and electrical leakage.
Ensure proper lightning protection measures are in place.
Inspect grounding systems and electrical distribution facilities, and promptly address any potential hazards.
Check all main power cable connections for signs of scorching, damaged insulation, or abnormal overheating. Repair or replace cables as necessary.
Inspect cable terminals inside electrical cabinets and tighten or replace any loose connections.
Generator Operation Reminder
When switching from utility power to generator power during a power outage:
Do not reconnect equipment until the utility voltage has stabilized at the rated 380V.
Unstable voltage may damage electrical components and affect equipment performance.
If utility voltage remains unstable, continue operating on generator power until normal voltage is restored.
Conduct a generator test run every 7 days and a load test every 15 days to ensure reliable backup power performance.
3. Feeding and Drinking System Maintenance
Feeding System
Inspect feed silos for proper sealing and thermal insulation to prevent rainwater infiltration and feed spoilage.
Consider applying thermal insulation coatings to silo exteriors to reduce internal temperatures.
Regularly clean and disinfect feeding equipment to prevent bacterial growth.
Drinking System
Check water lines for leaks and blockages.
Replace filter cartridges regularly.
Flush water lines periodically to maintain water quality and system performance.
4. Manure Removal System Maintenance
Important Reminder
During hot weather, manure belts may expand due to thermal elongation.
When operating the manure removal system:
Observe belt operation from the rear end of the poultry house.
If the lower manure belt sags more than 15 cm, tighten the belt immediately.
Failure to do so may result in belt entanglement and equipment damage.
To maintain good air quality inside the poultry house, manure should be removed at least once per day.
5. Daily Management and Preventive Maintenance
Perform routine maintenance according to the Equipment Maintenance Record Form.
Keep detailed records of inspections, servicing, and corrective actions.
Promptly address any abnormal conditions to prevent equipment failures.
